Michelle Ortiz, fellow Galla, called me one non-eventful evening to ask for some advice on whether or not she should accept an invitation from The US Consulate to conduct a residency in Juarez, Mexico.
All the news we had ever seen and stories ever told about Juarez involved violence, missing and murdered women, and corrupt police and city government. After hearing Michelle out, I without any shame invited myself to the Juarez Residency party! We both knew, in our hearts, that she was going to go but 2 in an unknown land is always better than one.
